ASTM E1105 Spray Rack Systems

Here at FTL we manufacture, calibrate and repair ASTM E1105 Spray Rack systems that are used to test windows, doors, wall assemblies and other components of a building’s envelope for water penetration resistance.

These calibrated spray racks meet the ‘field spray apparatus’ requirements outlined in the following standards, methods, and guidelines:

It is the Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration on Installed Exterior Windows, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference.

When is the ASTM E1105 Test Method Performed?

This test method is most often performed on new construction projects for Quality Control purposes to check both window and door products and their installation for water intrusion. However, it can also be performed after construction is completed as part of a Forensic Water Leak Investigation.

How much Water Is Coming out of the ASTM E1105 Spray Rack System?

The spray rack is lab calibrated by authorized factory technicians from our Accredited Facility to deliver approximately 5.0 GPH/FT2 (which correlates to 8 inches of rain per hour).
Now that is a lot of rain! The good news is that Building Codes require Window and Door manufacturing companies to have their products rated and tested according to the North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS). Having a rated fenestration product is part of national product compliance.
