Laboratory Services
FTL is an ISO 17025 Test Facility and also holds AAMA/FGIA Full Service Laboratory status that dates back to 1988. The physical lab provides services to clients out of Southern CA by means of its Rancho Cucamonga warehouse that sits just east of Los Angeles, CA. The Mobile Field Testing Division services all of California with hubs in San Francisco and San Diego.
The laboratory has an 18’ x 14’ fully automated test wall and also four (4) additional automated walk-in test chambers capable of testing 30’ x 15’ fenestration products. These test walls and walk-in chambers allow us to test for air infiltration, water penetration, uniform wind load and hurricane cycling performance with precise results.
The lab also houses a computer-controlled missile impact cannon (also known as a 2 x 4 cannon) and test walls/chambers that allow us to conduct impact and cyclic testing used to simulate storm debris under very high wind pressures found in severe weather environments under AAMA 506.16
As an industry leader we specialize in testing to the NAFS (North American Fenestration Standard) specifications for windows, doors and skylights, also known as AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-17 and look forward to helping you navigate the testing process that leads to certification through one of these major organizations:
- AAMA/FGIA Gold Label Program
- NAMI Certifications
- WDMA’s Hallmark Program
We can also assist with R&D testing of new products so you can work out the bugs before you hit production.
We are also able to test in accordance with the following:
AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-05: Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and unit skylights.
AAMA-103 (Section 5): Procedural guide for certification of window and door assemblies (Section 5: Auxiliary Test Procedures).
AAMA-906: Voluntary test method and specification for sliding glass door roller assemblies.
AAMA-920: Specification for operating cycle performance of side-hinged exterior door systems .
AAMA-925: Specifications for determining the vertical loading resistance of side-hinged door leaves.
AAMA-1304: Forced entry resistance test method for sliding glass doors.
ASTM E283: Standard test method for determining rate of air leakage through exterior windows, curtain walls, and doors under specified pressure differences across the specimen.
ASTM E330: Standard test method for structural performance of exterior windows, doors, skylights and curtain walls by uniform static air pressure difference.
ASTM E331: Standard test method for water penetration of exterior windows, skylights, doors, and curtain walls by uniform static air pressure difference.
ASTM E547: Standard test method for water penetration of exterior windows, skylights, doors, and curtain walls by cyclic static air pressure difference.
ASTM E987: Standard test method for deglazing force of fenestration products.
ASTM E2068: Standard test method for determination of operating force of sliding windows and doors.
ASTM F588: Standard test methods for measuring the forced entry resistance of window assemblies, excluding glazing impact.
ASTM F842: Standard test method for measuring the forced entry resistance of sliding door assemblies, excluding glazing impact.
WDMA TM 7-08 (Cycle-Slam Test): Test method for determining the physical endurance of wood doors & associated hardware connections under accelerated operating conditions.
