Fenestration Testing Laboratory is an ISO 17025 Accredited Laboratory in Los Angeles that has continually provided independent third party water intrusion testing and investigative services for rain related water leaks in the State of California since 1988.
Services are performed on the products and systems that make up a building’s exterior envelope for air leakage and water intrusion. What makes FTL different from many other companies is that we are recognized as the authority in our industry. We also maintain some of the highest standards and demonstrate that by maintaining valid accreditations as a Test Laboratory by the industry’s three major governing bodies: FGIA (Formerly AAMA) , IAS (The International Accreditation Service), and WDMA. In addition, we are also an ISO/IEC Approved 17025 test lab that is recognized both in the United States and worldwide. Forensic services involve testing and investigating active rain related water leaks and moisture intrusion on existing building structures for Forensic Purposes.
Forensic Water Leak Investigations and Water Intrusion Inspections are conducted in order to determine the source of any rain related water intrusion issues on a building. Many times the source of water intrusion is not always a window or door as many people tend to believe, but the surrounding construction which may include the wall, roof, or decking system. As an independent third party test agency we remain unbiased and neutral throughout the testing process. We are brought in to provide test results that detail whether or not the products and systems installed on a project were installed according to accepted trade practices (to code), and also to determine whether or not the products and systems are able to pass both air leakage and water intrusion tests as outlined in AAMA test standards and ASTM test methods.
Our Rain Simulation Machines that we use to simulate rain events are performance calibrated and traceable to our fully accredited test lab. These spray rack systems are designed and built to simulate a scientifically controlled rainfall event while we conduct our forensic water intrusion tests and water leak investigations.
We approach every job systematically and walk through the process, step-by-step, with all parties involved so there is no confusion as to what is going to be tested, and how the testing will be conducted.
